Grass-fed Lamb
Just like with the rest of our meat, when it comes to lamb, we're not willing to compromise. Prioritizing their health is how we prioritize yours. Our lamb is 100% organic; our sheep are never wormed, never dipped in pesticides, and never fed additional grain. The result is extremely mild tasting lamb from the healthiest animal possible. Raised on an Appalachian mountainside, we're ensuring that every nutrient and mineral from our farm makes it to your table.

Taste the Difference
- 100% Grass-Fed
Unlike the majority of meat-sheep raised in the USA, our lambs are 100% grass fed. We never spray our pastures or provide additional feed supplementation. In the spring, we lamb outside on pasture and any hay fed in the winter is done outside. We work to keep our pastures as diverse as possible to ensure that our sheep have a varied diet and our finished product has as many micro-nutrients as possible.
- Mild Flavor
Tunis sheep are known for their mild-flavored meat. If you've tried lamb before and found it too gamey, this may be the meat for you. We carefully curate our flock to ensure that we can be 100% grass-fed without off flavors to make sure that your dinner is the best it can be.
- Parasite Resistent
At Mountain Table Farm we believe that prioritizing the long-term health of our sheep is the best thing for our customers. Most mdern sheep breeds require high levels of intervention due to weaker immune systems and breeding decisions. Our sheep are never wormed with pesticides. Their tails are not docked. They rarely require lambing assistance. This makes it possible for us to raise lamb that is not only grass-fed, but 100% organic as well.

Thoughtfully selected
Tunis Sheep
We raise Tunis Sheep, a classic Southern breed and traditional staple of mid-Atlantic farming from their introduction in the late 18th century from North Africa until modern dewormers allowed farmers to raise “improved” British breeds.
Our Tunis are bombproof; they lamb on pasture without assistance, they do not need their tails docked, their hooves are healthy and don’t require treatment, and their immune systems are strong enough to fight off parasites with proper rotational grazing and management. And they can do it all off of grass alone. The result is a completely clean lamb, raised without any sort of medications, on nothing but grass. It makes a wonderful meal.

Frequently asked questions
Can’t find the answer you’re looking for? Send us an email at mountaintablefarm@gmail.com. We'd love to talk more.
- Is your meat organically certified?
It is not. While we follow all of the organic regulations for our sheep, USDA organic certification is unfortunately cost prohibitive for smaller family farms like ours. We do not spray on our property, there are no antibiotics or any other additives in our sheep's food, and our animals are not injected with growth hormone. We do not worm with pesticides. This is the food that we feed our children and we're commited to the safety and purity of our meat. We value your trust and you are always welcome to come and see for yourself.
- I'm in, but I don't have a separate freezer. Can I still purchase a lamb pack?
Yes! Fortunately, meat is very space efficient. Fourty pounds of lamb can easily fit in a single shelf of a split fridge/freezer. Having trouble visualizing this? Head over to our gallery for some storage inspiration!
- Do you sell meat in smaller quantites?
Yes, we can sell by the cut on request; all of our meat is USDA processed and packaged. For amounts outside of our standard variety packages, please give us a call at (540) 251-2590 or send us an email at mtntablefarm@gmail.com.
